The Academic Bowl: What Happened?

The Project 20M Academic Bowl was a battle of brains, buzzer speed, and slime survival. And what a competition it was! Four confident and quick-thinking contestants—Ginger, Etta, Yzzy, and Celeste—stepped up to the challenge, but only one would emerge victorious. The rest took a one-way trip to Punishment Island for a double dose of green and chocolate slime!

If you’re wondering how it all played out, here’s a full breakdown of the action. SPOILERS ARE AHEAD! If you wish to watch the Academic Bowl without knowing what happened, download it on Vimeo on Demand right now.

But first: “The Godiva Walk”

Just to clarify some terms, the Project 20M Academic Bowl is the first event in which we use the term “Godiva Walk” as a pre-consequence to Punishment Island. For the Godiva Walk, every player who loses a round must undress to their underwear before making that march to the slime. Longtime fans of Project 20M may know this as the special “After Dark” consequence featured in our most popular videos. With “Godiva Walk,” we now have a term to describe the act and maybe strike a little bit of fear into the hearts of our fearless players.

Round 1: First Showdown for Slime

The game kicked off with 15 fast-paced trivia questions, and by the end of the round, it was Ginger and Celeste who found themselves in danger. With their scores too low to move on, they had one last chance to stay in the game—a sudden death showdown.

With both players locked in, the question was asked. But in the end, Celeste came up short and was the first contestant eliminated. And, as tradition dictates, she took the Godiva Walk to Punishment Island, where she got a massive bucket of green slime dumped over her head, followed by a pitcher of thick chocolate slime for good measure. And yes—every messy moment was captured in wide-angle, super slow-mo replay!

Round 2: Another Slime Victim Falls

With Celeste gone, the three remaining contestants—Etta, Yzzy, and Ginger—went head-to-head in Round 2. The competition stayed fierce, but once again, only two would move on.

This time, Ginger and Yzzy ended up in the elimination showdown. A single question stood between them and either a spot in the final or a spot under a waterfall of slime.

After a tense moment, Ginger buzzed in to take a guess, but was incorrect, making her the second player eliminated. With no way out, she took her Godiva Walk, sat on the stool at Punishment Island, and braced for impact. First, a huge bucket of bright green slime rained down, completely covering her, followed by a thick splash of chocolate slime for that extra layer of mess. And yes—you get to see it all in slow motion!

The Finals: A Comeback for the Ages!

That left just Etta and Yzzy in the championship round. The rules? First to 5 points wins it all.

At first, it looked like Yzzy had the game in the bag, racing to a 4-2 lead while Etta struggled to keep up. But Etta refused to go down without a fight. With a series of clutch answers, she staged a stunning comeback, tying the game 4-4 and setting up a dramatic final question.

The tension was at an all-time high. Buzzers ready. One question. One champion.

And just like that—Etta snatched victory from the jaws of defeat! With a 5-4 win, she became the first-ever Project 20M Academic Bowl Champion, escaping completely slime-free while Yzzy had a very different fate awaiting her.

As the last eliminated contestant, Yzzy took the ultimate trip to Punishment Island, where she was absolutely drenched in green slime before getting the final chocolate slime finale. And of course, her sliming—like all the others—comes with a wide-angle, slow-motion replay that captures every splatter, drip, and reaction.
